The first annual Daniel T. Craig Memorial Golf Tournament was held July 10th at Buck’s Crossing and the Walkerton Golf & Country Club and we are pleased to announce that we raised more than $15,000 which will be given away to local causes and organizations.

Danny passed away on June 27, 2014, at the age of 64 after a short battle with cancer. However, Danny was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2011 which is a neurodegenerative disease affecting more than 100,000 Canadians and millions worldwide. As a result, a portion of the funds raised from this tournament will be used to help continue research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson’s Disease, and we hope ultimately lead to a cure.

Danny was also a strong proponent of community involvement and giving back which is why proceeds from the tournament will also be used support other important causes and organizations including Wes for Youth Online, two local food banks, and we will also be setting up three $500 scholarships for a graduating student from JDSS (Hanover), SHHS (Walkerton) and WDSS (Walkerton).

Additional funds will be distributed in the coming months to other local causes.

This tournament was only possible with the help of so many key sponsors and volunteers. Our sponsors and photos can be found on our tournament web page: www.cmrinsurance.com/about-us/golf-tournament/
